WORK IN PROGRESS:
John Leguizamo is returning to his downtown roots with a new one
man project, 'WORK IN PROGRESS' which he'll debut at the Barrow
Street Theatre beginning February 27th. 'WORK IN PROGRESS' will
play through March 11th, 2009.
Leguizamo describes his new project on the Barrow Street website
as, " Yo, wat up? Wat's crackin? Me that's what. I'm retooling,
reworking, redoing a brand new show. Help, me help you get some
anti recession. And anti depression hilarity. Come on down and be a
part of history in the making. Watch me trip up and mess up and you
can twitter it to your friends, " I saw john f*#k up. Ha! ha!" I'm
not mad atcha. No haters allowed. Nor hating allowed. Help me come
up with a title for my new show. Come on down and represent. Watch
me put down. Cause you know I can".
John Leguizamo made his Broadway debut in his critically acclaimed
Tony-nominated Freak (subsequently recorded for HBO, directed by
Spike Lee) and followed that with two separate, equally successful
runs of Sexaholix. He also wrote and performed in the Drama Desk
Award-winning Spic-O-Rama. His achievements in Hollywood are no
less astonishing. He created, wrote and starred in the 1995
Latino-oriented variety show "House of Buggin" on FOX. His movie
career exploded with Carlito's Way, followed by blockbusters such
as Executive Decision, The Fan, Moulin Rouge and Ice Age, to name a
few. He was recently seen in the films Nothing Like the Holidays
and Righteous Kill (with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro).
The Barrow Street Theatre will also be home to the acclaimed David
Cromer production of 'Thornton Wilder's Our Town. Performances will
begin on February 17th with an official opening night set for
Thursday, February 26th, 7:30 p.m.
Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue
South in the heart of Greenwich Village. Nearby subway stops are

ICE AGE:
The actor talks about reprising his role as Sid the sloth
John Leguizamo captivated audiences with his portrayal of Sid the
sloth in Ice Age. Now he's back, voicing the character again in Ice
Age: The Meltdown. This time, as the ice melts and the world comes
alive with the colors of Spring, Sid finds that he has what it
takes to be a real hero. He and his oddly matched family - Manny
the mammoth, Diego the saber toothed tiger and newcomer to the
group, Ellie - a mammoth who believes she is a possum - set off on
a wondrous journey into the unknown of their changing world.
Leguizamo has appeared in more than 50 films. The actor and
comedian's versatile career includes turns as a drag queen, a boxer
a gangster and a zombie. Among his film credits are Summer of Sam,
"Romero and Juliet", Moulin Rouge and "George Romero's Land of the
Dead". He has also had a recurring role on the popular American
medical drama series, ER as Dr. Victor Clemente.
Born in Colombia, he was raised in New York. In addition to his
film roles, he has a devoted following for his stand-up-comedy and
one-man shows. He is a passionate performer and in person, there is
a sense of that enthusiasm, which comes across as he describes the
way he inhabits his character, Sid in Ice Age: The Meltdown. He is
married and has two children.
